Jiangxi Copper Group, China's largest copper producer, sought to challenge the long-standing dominance of imported cone crushers at its Dexing Copper Mine. In 2015, the company initiated a rigorous year-long side-by-side comparison between a Jinyang JY500 and a Metso HP500 under identical operating conditions at the Sizhou concentrator. The results, validated by the client, showed that the JY500 matched the HP500 in throughput and product quality, while delivering 20–30% longer liner life. A comprehensive lifecycle cost analysis revealed total savings of approximately 4 million RMB (∼$580,000 USD) per crusher. The successful trial led to continued orders, including the larger JY800, and earned Jinyang a decade-long "Grade A+ Excellent Supplier" recognition from Jiangxi Copper, proving that a domestic alternative could not only compete with but outperform global benchmarks.

Jiangxi Copper Corporation: The Definitive Field Trial - Jinyang JY500 vs. Metso HP500

The Challenge:
As China's largest copper producer, Jiangxi Copper Corporation (JCC)'s Dexing Copper Mine relied heavily on imported high-end cone crushers (such as the Metso HP series) for critical secondary and tertiary crushing. Facing challenges like long lead times for spare parts, high costs, and dependency on a single supplier, JCC urgently needed to validate the reliability of a domestically produced, high-end alternative to break the monopoly, optimize its supply chain, and reduce total lifecycle costs.

The Jinyang Solution:
In 2015, JCC initiated a bold "head-to-head" field test at its Sizhou Concentrator. A Jinyang JY500 cone crusher was installed side-by-side with an existing Metso HP500, operating under identical feed material, working conditions, and production schedules for a full year of continuous operation. This was not merely a sale but a transparent, performance-based verification.

Data-Driven Results:
The year-long comparative data eliminated all doubts, proving the JY500 not only matched but exceeded the international benchmark in key metrics:

  • Performance Parity: The JY500 consistently met and exceeded the contracted throughput of 400 t/h, achieving an average of approximately 531 t/h. Its product size distribution (%-10mm content) was identical to the HP500.

  • Superior Durability – The Decisive Advantage: The service life of the core wear parts—the mantle and bowl liners—became the defining differentiator. JY500 liner life reached 850-900 hours, a significant improvement over the HP500's approximately 700 hours, representing a more than 20% increase.

  • Quantified Economic Benefit: Based on the extended liner life, competitive initial investment, and lower maintenance costs, JCC calculated that the JY500 delivered total lifecycle cost savings of approximately RMB 4 million (~US$ 560,000).

Customer Value & Feedback:
This successful "PK" provided JCC with direct economic benefits and a reliable second source for high-performance equipment. Following the outstanding performance of the JY500 and the subsequent successful application of JY800 units, JCC has consistently awarded Jinyang the title of "A+ Grade Excellent Supplier" for multiple years. This case stands as the most powerful validation of Jinyang's value proposition: "Performance rivaling imports, with superior cost-effectiveness," providing a credible reference for equipment selection in major domestic mining operations.
